What Does LPMC Do? Why Be Active With LPMC? Why Be A Dues Paying Member?

What does the Libertarian Party of Monterey County do throughout the year and why should you support them with a dues paying membership, your time, and why should you get involved with them?

Every January LPMC has it’s big annual meeting, with captivating speakers, elections, and pizza party. LPMC has quarterly business meetings & movie nights, and on months where there is not a business meeting, there is a monthly social event that alternates between a Freedom Coffee or a Liberty & Libations, where like-minded individuals who are interested in liberty can meet to talk about topics of the day, or just learn about libertarianism in general. Occasionally there may be a guest speaker. Other recent activities that LPMC members participated in were marching in the 4th of July parade with the Libertarians For Peace, and recently tabled at the Monterey Farmers Market. Members are looking into tabling at one of the local colleges, as has been done in the past. LPMC became an official stakeholder with the Tenant-Landlord Coalition (TLC), which is pushing back against the devastating rent control and rental registry ordinances in Monterey County that are harmful to renters and owners alike. LPMC was fighting those ordinances even before becoming a stakeholder by attending and providing input at Town Halls, City Council meetings, writing letters to the editor, and writing city council members. LPMC members were also involved with writing arguments and rebuttals for the voters guide against harmful measures that will be on the November 2024 ballot, and are distributing signs, to inform voters.
