Possibility of future virus pandemics should have people wondering if big government creates the problems that it appoints itself to solve

Chris Kramer — March 14, 2022

There is an avian influenza outbreak that has made its way to America and is quickly spreading. The folks who are okay with trading liberties for statist mandates that destroy or damage the lives and livelihoods of countless people can relax. It’s poultry and wild birds that are catching and spreading this virus. It does not pose an immediate threat to the public, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But news of the outbreak sparked one television interviewer to ask an expert if we are prepared for the next pandemic. He answered that we are not and went on about the ways we could be better prepared. Glaringly absent from his answer was the option of just not creating viruses that cause pandemics to begin with. The National Institutes of Health-funded the kind of gain-of-function research that likely created the SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for the COVID‑19 pandemic. Dr. Anthony Fauci is the director of The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the 27 institutes and centers that make up the NIH. The NIH has admitted to funding gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses at China’s Wuhan lab, despite Fauci’s repeated denials in front of Congress. Gain-of-function research refers to viruses being taken from animals before they are genetically altered in a lab to make them more transmissible to humans. It is appalling that this barely sees the light of day on the “news”. Can it really be a surprise that people have lost trust in government and media? Where is the reporting? Where is the public outrage?
