Announcement from David R. Henderson, Monterey County Libertarians for Peace:
As we have done every year for over 10 years, the Monterey County Libertarians for Peace will be marching in the July 4 parade in Monterey.
We invite all libertarians to march with us. It has always been fun. There’s a festive atmosphere and it’s fun to talk to and observe the other entrants, whether they be dancers, musicians, or other political groups.
It’s a good idea to show up by 9:30 but even if you show up at 9:45, you’ll be able to enjoy the pre-parade interactions.
We will meet in the parking lot behind the Hartnell Professional Building. We are entry #34. That building is across from the Monterey Post Office. I will be there at about 9:15, so look for me holding the banner and wearing an American flag shirt.
Here’s the announcement that will be read out by the announcer on each of the 4 blocks we march by:
The Monterey County Libertarians for Peace advocate peaceful relations with all nations and oppose having the U.S. government insert itself into any foreign wars.
That announcement is particularly appropriate this year.
The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. and usually ends before 11:15 a.m.
One of the Libertarians For Peace members has invited all of the marchers to his place in Monterey for a potluck afterwards. It will begin at noon.
