Cities Try to Thwart State’s Push for More Housing

Chris Kramer’s Comments:

SB9 is a hot subject right now for cities across California. It has been getting a lot of attention from the Seaside City Council. Due to the statewide housing shortage crisis, the state has been trying to incentivize home building and development by the cities for many years. However, the state is not seeing the outcomes that it wants. So, it’s taking matters into its own hands and forcing cities to allow owners to split lots and build 2 homes on each lot. But the state doesn’t make considerations for water and parking, as well as other issues. So cities are scrambling trying to figure out how they can put limitations on SB9 or work around it.
